研究内容
子どもの健康、および、子どもに影響を与える母親の健康に関心を持ち研究をしています。子どもにとって睡眠は、休息のみならず、成長にとっても重要な生命活動です。現在の日本社会では、大人も子どもも睡眠が不足してしまいがちです。睡眠不足由来の疾病や心身の不調を改善・予防するために、保護者も含めた対策を探求しています。

統計学と看護は結びつかない印象がありますが、白衣の天使として知られるナイチンゲールは優れた統計学者でもありました。米国統計協会の名誉会員であり、また、女性として初めて、英国王立統計協会（the Royal Statistical Society）会員に選ばれています。彼女が考案した独創的で美しい統計図表は、現代においても色褪せていないのです。
